Why did you decide to shoot boudoir photography?

I honestly believe it chose me. I started out shooting portraits, families, couples (all the things) and
boudoir was never on my radar nor did I even really know it existed until about a year ago when I came
across Boudoir For Black Women. I have always been in tune with my body and femininity and an
advocate for owning and having agency over my body to do with it as I please and showcase it for my
own enjoyment. When I came across the community it was confirmation that something had been
missing and that this was it. I now get to help other women step into their freedom and own their
femininity.

Describe what a boudoir session is like with you for your clients.

It is a 90 minute customized empowerment session in a safe space that warrants vulnerability, self love,
self confidence and freedom. Throughout the session there is a customized musical playlist as well as
verbal affirmations and constant high energy vibrations. Clients are provided with same day reveal
sessions and have an assortment of luxury products to choose from which includes albums and wall art.

How do you empower Black women with your boudoir photography?

I empower black women with my boudoir photography by catering to and making a safe space for black
women to just be. I make it very clear that I am there for their comfortability and whatever sexy is to
them is the standard not what the world says it should be. I empower black women to be authentically
themselves with no judgement no matter their shape, size, or profession and that celebrating their
bodies is their right and does not have to be done for any other reason other than the love and
admiration they have for themselves.

What do you want Black women to understand about doing their own boudoir session?

I think it’s important for black women to invest in a boudoir session because its not another experience
quite like it. The ability to see ourselves in such a vulnerable state and and go on the journey throughout
the session to strengthen self confidence, self love and freedom is magical. We also view ourselves in a
one dimensional way so to see ourselves through someone else’s eyes is just so empowering. We get to
see the beauty that sometimes we miss out on due to negative self talk or self doubt or the noise from
the outside world that tells us because we are wives, mothers or daughters and so on that this is
something we should not be doing. I think it’s important to take that power back and have beautiful and
amazing images to cherish for a lifetime.

What is your favorite part of shooting boudoir?

My favorite part is seeing these beautiful women transform right before my eyes. They may come in
feeling insecure or unsure about themselves or about the session in some way and about 10-15 minutes
in with the right music and me being the ultimate hype woman all of that begins to fall away and who
they truly are or want to be emerges. Its truly a beautiful experience and by far my favorite part of
shooting boudoir.
